Staff Veterinarian for Unique Animal Rescue Opportunity! Emerald City Pet Rescue
Emerald City Pet Rescue is a nonprofit organization that exists to rescue abused, neglected, and homeless animals. We are seeking a professional, adaptable, reliable, and personable Associate Veterinarian who is committed to practicing progressive high-level medicine, is dedicated to the pursuit of ongoing education, and who above all is passionate about animal rescue.
Emerald City Pet Rescue adheres to the highest standards of practice in the veterinary community as our veterinarians are encouraged to manage the animals under their care as they would in a private practice setting. Our state-of-the-art on-site hospital in Seattle offers a fully stocked surgical suite, digital radiology, ultrasound, Companion Laser unit, underwater treadmill, dental unit with digital radiology, IDEXX in-house bioanalytics, hospital pharmacy, and a skilled support staff to insure our veterinarians can practice their best medicine. Local and regional boarded specialists are also utilized as needed on a referral basis to insure our veterinarians can follow through with more complex cases as they feel appropriate.
Emerald City Pet Rescue is a no kill facility that specializes in rescuing animals from high volume shelters around the country and animals that are relinquished from within the community. Our mission to improve the health and well-being of each and every animal we rescue and find them their forever homes.
Perform full intake, wellness, and recheck exams for all ECPR animals along with follow up treatment plans.
Perform both elective sterilization surgeries as well as general soft tissue surgeries as indicated. Limited orthopedic surgery capability is available.
Perform dentistry; a higher level of competency is required for many of our rescues.
Provide other husbandry information such as nutrition, housing, and behavior to the rescue staff.
Delegate tasks efficiently to support staff and keep communication clear and effective.
Advise staff on sanitary and sterile measures.
Assist in staff educational endeavors through both one-on-one teaching and group lectures and discussions.
Other duties as assigned.
DVM or equivocal from accredited school required.
5+ years of experience preferred though will consider the right internship-trained individual. Experience with equine and exotics a plus.
Shelter or rescue experience appreciated.
Experience with exotic animals, preferred.
Must be willing to work some weekends with flexibility. Overnight on-call shifts may also be requested.
Self-motivated, willing to work individually and as a part of the team.
The ability to work under stressful conditions.
Maintain confidentiality appropriate for position and responsibilities.
Able to train, lead by example, and provide direction to support staff members.
Knowledge of Avimark and Microsoft Office Suite a bonus.
Must demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills.
