To perform and oversee all veterinary services for shelter animals and community clinic clients. Maximize the use of clinic resources to ensure the health and welfare of all animal residents. To provide high quality affordable veterinary services to the community. To educate the local community about appropriate animal care and welfare. To provide medical care and treatment to all animals in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the President and Board of Directors
The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work collaboratively with the President, Adoption Care Coordinator, and staff.
Diagnose, treat, and manage medical conditions in all PAL animals.
Maintain complete medical records for all patients, of all treatments, progress, and final outcomes in all medical and surgical cases.
Develop, initiate, and measure compliance, of treatment plans and protocols for animals housed at the adoption center. These include but are not limited to: a. Vaccine protocols b. Nutrition and feeding protocols c. Parasite control measures d. Housing and sanitation e. Treatment protocols for routine infectious diseases f. Preventative medicine procedures g. Emergency evaluation, treatment and procedures h. pre- adoption exams in accordance with PAL policies and procedures
Direct, and conduct a cost contained sterilization program, including performance of ovariohysterectomies and castrations on cats and dogs. Supervise all aspects of the procedures including anesthesia, surgery, and postoperative care of the patient.
Direct and conduct all additional general practice surgical procedures. Supervise all aspects of the procedures including anesthesia, surgery, and postoperative care of the patient.
Oversee the scheduling of outside veterinary resources for procedures not available at PAL.
Assist with internal and public relations consultations and education services as they pertain to veterinary medical issues.
Provide telephone consultation with staff as needed during normal business hours.

Palmetto Animal League(PAL) opened its first Adoption Center on October 30, 2010 after 8 years of managing a network of loving foster families to house and care for our abandoned and homeless animals. The Adoption Center, which includes living space for approximately 150 adoption-ready cats and dogs, serves as headquarters for the League’s operations. We offer animals a friendly, comfortable, low-stress environment which encourages humans to visit, adopt, volunteer and get involved. Our 7,700 square foot building is located in Riverwalk Business Park in Okatie, SC.
