Independently-owned Southpoint Animal Hospital is seeking qualified applicants for a full time Practice Manger position with our five (5) doctor small animal practice in south Durham, NC. We have a unique opportunity for the right professional who has successfully managed multi-doctor hospitals but is no longer interested in the 10+ hour a day, 5 day per week grind that often comes with the title.

A strong background in human resources and finances is critical. Although CVPM certification is desired, it is not required if commensurate experience matches the needs of our hospital. Flexibility to hire an administrative assistant, within the budget allowance, to assist with the Practice Manager responsibilities.
As Veterinary Practice Manager, you will:
Update, as needed, and abide by our Southpoint Animal Hospital protocols and practices which apply to all team members.
Direct, lead and mentor the paraprofessional staff, with the assistance of department leads, to help them realize their full professional potential and to deliver outstanding, high quality medical care, client service and business results.
Maintenance of associates’ schedules and meeting schedules.
Act as communications liaison, including holding hospital-wide team and associate meetings.
Provide inspirational leadership to the team by creating a positive professional relationship with the owners, medical and client care team, veterinary associates, and clients.
Develop annual planning and budgeting. Review monthly financial reports with the owners and perform variance analysis to identify challenges and opportunities for growth. Creation monitoring of monthly financial and operational metrics, ensuring deviations from plan are addressed timely and appropriately.
Using proven and novel methods, manage and drive consistent revenue and profit growth.
With the help of our Human Resources Coordinator and the supervisors of the Medical Team and Client Care Team, manage daily operations of the hospital. Effectively resolve, either directly or through the guidance of supervisors, customer service issues and operational challenges.
Work hand in hand with the outsourced bookkeeper to manage finances and resolve occasional issues that arise.
In conjunction with Medical Team and Client Care supervisors, manage overall labor costs while ensuring appropriate scheduling/staffing during operating hours.
Oversight of cost containment, cash control/banking, loss prevention, office and medical supply ordering, and inventory management.
Ensure compliance with practice policies and procedures and with all local, state and federal laws and ordinances.
Along with the OSHA Safety Officer, oversee the OSHA processes within the hospital.
Experience, Education and Training:
Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Three years related experience required (health care, veterinary profession, service industry, etc.), including direct supervisory experience (includes hiring, terminating, conflict management, etc.).
Previous experience as a Practice Manager in veterinary medicine preferred, but not required.
Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Veterinary Management Institute (CVPA) certification preferred but not required.
Availability to work flexible schedules based on business needs and managerial coverage although there are no holidays and limited Saturdays.
