VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is seeking a Specialty Hospital Director to join our busy, 24-hour emergency/multi-specialty practice in Norwalk, CT.
We are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide state-of-the-art medical care for our local community! We have been serving Fairfield County and the surrounding areas since 1997. Our center is designed to function as an extension of services provided by local veterinarians. Along with emergency services, we also have many board certified veterinary specialists, and do not provide primary care.
Our veterinary hospital is segmented by the following departments: Dermatology & Allergy, Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Radiology, Surgery, Cardiology
Hospital Director, responsible for overseeing the business aspects of hospital operations and upholding a sound medical environment in a veterinary hospital that includes specialty and emergency. The Director will be working daily in a company that genuinely values local input and decision-making. The Director will support 4 Hospital Managers, 3 Medical Directors and 4 Administrators to meet goals and foster an excellent service culture and working environment.
Accountability for the hospital profit & loss statements
Responsibility to foster a collaborative and positive culture and work environment
Focus on exceeding client expectations
Oversight of managers and supervisors who support approximately 90 associates including doctors, technicians, veterinary assistants and paraprofessional staff
Develop and grow future leaders
Oversight and development of onboarding, training and continuity programs
Cultivate relationships within the veterinary community
Support the recruitment of medical professionals
Strong leadership skills to develop a solid team
Managerial presence to influence and gain alignment on decisions
Must possess a high level of integrity with understanding of the need for confidentiality
Excellent analytical and organization skills, with strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities
Ability to develop and implement creative solutions to operational challenges based on the fluctuating needs of the region and organization
Ability to balance short-term needs and priorities while building for the future
